Is it easier to skip college and join the kitchen?

Education and training are very important irrespective of the career you select. The kitchen can train you on the job in some cases however your growth will be limited if you don't have the right education. Much like having the right tools. The understanding of food science is crucial because you have to deal with temperatures which may affect texture, understand how contamination occur, and more such. Yes, it is easier perhaps, however I wouldn't recommend it.

It does tend to be monotonous when you start. Creativity begins in more senior positions in most kitchens. It is a very creative profession.

When do I become famous?

I have never cooked, can I still become a Chef?

Yes! You have to learn how to chop, cut, clean and cook in the kitchen and in the food school.

This is what many young cooks want when they start food school or interning in a kitchen. There are many ways to become a Head Chef. A lot depends on your attitude, skills, techniques, personality, etc. A lot also depends on being at the right place and at the right time.

I want to specialise in only one cuisine

Once you've learnt the basics of the kitchen, you can choose to specialise in one cuisine. You could even try working in 'that' country for speciality cuisines and develop your skills. It doesn't need to be restricted to cuisines. You can also become a Baker, Patissier or a Garde Manger Chef.
